Steps toward embracing your shadow
Shadow work: Is it time to embrace those parts longing to see the light?
There’s a part of us that waits quietly in the dark, longing not to be fixed—but to seen, accepted and loved.
This is the realm of your Shadow.
The shadows are the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden, denied, or rejected. These might be painful memories, unexpressed emotions, unconscious beliefs, or even powerful gifts we’ve been taught to suppress.
Your shadow isn’t your enemy. It’s your invitation. Shadow work is the courageous act of turning towards those hidden and suppressed parts of ourselves in order to greet them with compassionate curiosity.
When we embrace our shadow, we reclaim lost energy because it takes so much energy to hide and lie about parts of ourselves. We lose our life force when we live a very controlled existence, only showing the parts we deem worthy. Shadow work connects with authenticity. It reminds you that you are both light and dark and there is beauty in both. When we meet our edges we become more fully ourselves—not the version we think the world wants, but the version that feels whole, grounded, and alive.
Shadow work can help when you are seeking healing that feels truly transformative.
This is something I talk about more indepth on my new YOU Tube channel. I break down the what/how/when to do Shadow work. You can view it here: https://youtu.be/IxLOoazTvuQ?si=ogr7XDA6GpNw3pxk. At Intuitive Encounters, shadow work is woven into everything I offer—because true healing doesn’t just live in the light. It lives in your willingness to meet the dark with love.
Gentle ways to explore your shadow self
One great way to ease into exploring your shadow self is through journaling. Here are a few prompts that can help guide you:
What parts of myself do I try to hide from others and why?
When was the last time I felt deeply triggered? What did that moment reveal about me?
When did I first feel ashamed of who I was?
What emotinons did I suppress as a child to feel safe or acceptable?
How do I benefit from staying small or unseen?
What would it look like to accept my anger, jealousy or sadness without shame?
If you feel called, I invite you to explore one of my new mini or micro courses, at affordable costs. All of these are excellent ways to ease into working with your shadows in short, guided lessons. Click here for quick access to my courses.
