Let It Move: Anger, Art & the Nervous System
Anger is not something to suppress, fix, or fear. It is a natural, intelligent response that carries important information. When anger is not allowed to move through the body, it can build and harden. This workshop offers a supported space to explore anger as energy, and expression.
Why Anger, and Why Now
Many women carry anger they were never given permission to feel.
Anger from generations of silencing, dismissing, controlling, and minimizing women’s voices and bodies.
Anger from witnessing harm, injustice, and the suffering of children and vulnerable people in systems of power.
Anger from realizing truths we were never meant to question.
This anger is not a flaw.
It is not something to suppress or judge.
It is intelligent. Protective. Sacred.
Anger is the nervous system’s way of saying, something is not right.
When that anger has no place to move, it turns inward into anxiety, tension, shutdown, resentment, physical pain, and emotional exhaustion.
This workshop recognizes anger as a necessary and righteous emotion that deserves expression, movement, and release for the well-being of the body and mind.
This is a guided art experience for adults, co-led by Amanda of Flourish Studio & Classroom and Jamie of Intuitive Encounters. Together, we will explore how anger lives in the body and how creative movement, art-making, breath, sound, and mindfulness can help regulate the nervous system and allow emotions to flow rather than stagnate.
What to Expect
This workshop blends movement, expressive art-making, guided breathwork, and vocal release. Participants will be invited into:
Large, full-body mark making using expansive motions on paper
Experimentation with textures and materials.
Nervous system regulation through grounding practices and intentional pauses
Breathwork focused on safely releasing and honoring anger
Optional vocal expression, including the opportunity to scream or use sound into a pillow (for comfort and noise control).
*Participation in vocal expression is always optional. You are welcome to scream, sigh, hum, breathe, stay quiet, or simply witness the experience in whatever way feels safest and most supportive for your body.
Reflection and integration, with the option for quiet personal processing
*This workshop is not about creating a finished art piece. The focus is on expression, embodiment, and emotional flow rather than artistic skill or outcome.
Who This Workshop Is For:
-Adults seeking a healthy, embodied way to work with anger or emotional buildup
-Those curious about somatic practices, expressive arts, or nervous system regulation
-Anyone who feels called to explore emotions through movement and creativity
*No prior art or somatic experience is needed.
What to Bring & Wear:
